Getting started

No, you don’t need a doctor’s referral to access physical therapy services in Alberta. However, some health benefit providers still ask for one, so always check with your specific provider if you plan to use extended coverage.

Please note that we do not currently see patients regarding Worker’s Compensation Board (WCB) injuries/claims.

You can easily book an appointment online or by contacting the office directly. We’ll ask you to complete the initial intake and consent forms before your first appointment.

Your first appointment

To ensure a smooth and efficient process during your visit, please bring these items with you:

  • Wear comfortable, loose clothing for the area you are seeking treatment for. For upper body treatments, sleeveless tops are ideal. For lower body treatments, shorts are best. Indoor footwear is preferred.
  • Bring any extended health coverage or benefits card. This helps us understand your coverage and make the most of your benefits.
  • Bring any notes, referrals or imaging from other healthcare providers that are related to your condition. These documents provide valuable insights that help in our assessment and treatment planning but are not necessary for your first appointment.

Expect your first visit to take about an hour.

Your therapist will review your intake forms and medical history and complete an objective assessment of your range of motion, strength and functional tasks. He or she will also provide a working diagnosis, prognosis, education and some tools to get you started on your recovery right away!

Next steps

After your initial assessment, your therapist will provide a personalized treatment plan to meet your goals. This plan may include a combination of in-clinic treatments and a home exercise and management plan.

Ongoing treatments can be booked with your therapist/assistant during your last visit or through our online booking feature.

Payments

Yes! We offer direct billing to common insurers, including Blue Cross, Sun Life, Canada Life, Desjardins, Johnson Inc and Manulife. If your provider is not listed, please do not hesitate to contact us.

If you have an extended health benefits plan, you may be covered for all or part of the service costs. Each plan is different, so make sure you check with your provider before your first appointment.

We currently do no direct bill for Mind and Move Services including counselling and personal fitness training. Please check with your insurer and/or health spending eligibility for these services.

We accept all major credit cards, debit and cash.

Cancellations and missed appointments

We know that life can be unpredictable, and we do what we can to accommodate emergencies or sudden scheduling conflicts. But we ask that you give our clinic a minimum of 24 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment. Please note that $50 fee will be charged for missed appointments, and a $25 fee for appointments cancelled without 24-hour notice.
